Sure, you have normal goals like finding a career that you are suited with or meeting the perfect spouse. But you have other dreams as well, like becoming a cooler person or learning a foreign language. Becoming a more interesting person is a very common interest for people, but it is something that is rarely covered by text books, there aren’t college classes that you can take that will teach you how to be more interesting to the opposite sex or to people in general. We all had to learn these things on our own, or find resources that could help us.
Learning how to be a badass doesn’t mean just studying Chuck Norris or joining an MMA league, it is about gaining the perception of a real man, being able to stand up for yourself and having the intelligence and perception to make decisions on your own. This is not something that you learn overnight, but with regular practice you can gain a lot of perception and become more interesting, well rounded individual.
Personally, I like to ‘learn how to time travel’ model for developing new interests and becoming a more self-sufficient person. The concept is that by studying ancient cultures and learning hobbies and interests accordingly not only do you broaden your perception but you gain interesting skills in the meantime. Personally, I enjoy cooking ancient Roman food and I also study the Latin language every day. By learning how to do this stuff, I jokingly refer to it as ‘time traveling but really I’m just gaining skills that make me more interesting.
Creativity is key to gaining these skills, so no matter what it is important to keep an open mind and not be afraid to try things that you normally would not try. It can’t hurt, and maybe you’ll find a new hobby that you enjoy.
