Five Tips to Make Money Blogging

Stay-at-home moms and dads across the globe have discovered they can make money blogging. The beauty of this plan is that you can work your own hours, from the comfort of your own home. This article provides tips to get you started.

Pick a niche and stick with it. Ideas include cooking, music, celebrities, books and reading, working from home, gardening. Make it something you enjoy and know something about. If you do not enjoy the subject or know much about it, you will be hard pressed to come up with content. One way to know if you have a good niche is to start out writing ten posts over a two-day period. This also gives you a good head start. Do not post them all on the same day, but spread them out over your first week or two. Then, keep developing content so you will always be ahead of schedule.

Post frequently and regularly. Daily posts are ideal. Twice a week would be acceptable to get started. If you go the twice-a-week route, try to do it on the same days every week so readers get used to when you post. By writing ahead of schedule as mentioned previously, you won’t have to worry about missing a scheduled post. Ping the search engines every time you post new information so they know you have new content.

Build a following by networking with other bloggers. Post well-thought-out comments on their blog. “Nice article” or “interesting information” is not effective. Your comments should indicate that you actually read their post.

Promote your blog on social networking sites. Update your status on all sites when you post a new blog. Follow and connect with people with similar interests. Whatever you do, do NOT just blast out shameless advertising of your blog. Build relationships with people and chat back and forth with them. As you build rapport with people, then share articles you have written that might be of interest to them.

As for the revenue-generating aspect to make money blogging, there are a few methods. You can post a donation button on your website and link it to a payment processor. You can also sell advertising on your site. Some people earn by reviewing products for companies. Sometimes they are paid for the review, and sometimes they just receive the product for free.
