Most of us understand the importance of including fruits and vegetables in our diet on a theoretical level. But when it comes to the practicalities of it, we often find ourselves skipping the most nutritious foods in favor of convenience. This needn’t be the case though. If you take a look at some reliable juicer reviews, you’ll notice that making juice is a fun way to be healthy. There’s another option which is similar – and that is blending. By mixing up fruits and vegetables in a high powered Blendtec or Vitamix blender we can make whole food smoothies. Both home made fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies are great for our health.
But what exactly is the difference between these sorts of drinks? As we know, eating lots of fruits and vegetables provides our bodies with all kinds of vitamins and minerals. Eating whole foods is a much better way of getting the micro-nutrients our bodies require than by taking a multi-vitamin pill. This is one of the reasons why these drinks are so beneficial for us. On top of their health benefits, they taste great too. Healthy vegetables such as spinach can easily be masked by the sweetness that comes from apples, for instance.
The real difference between juicing and blending is to do with the fiber. Juicers separate the liquid (which contains all the vitamins and minerals) from the fiber. Blending on the other hand mixes everything up together. Both have their advantages.
With juicing, we can juice huge quantities of fruits and vegetables so that we feed our bodies with a massive amount of vitamins and minerals. With blending, we require less produce for the same volume of drink, so we’re getting less of the anti-oxidants, minerals and so on. However, with blending, we also drink the fiber which is great for digestive health.
Is either better? It’s a question of preference. The bottom line is that both juicing and blending fresh fruits and vegetables is great for our health.
