When you decide to start a garden, you need to have enough space to hold them. If you’re short on space, use garden planters instead. Garden planters include just about anything you can put plants in to grow. Containers, pots, boxes, etc. can all be used as garden planters. They can be kept indoors or outdoors. Learn how to grown your own garden with garden planters.
Make Sure the Planters Fit in your Space
If you only have a small balcony to keep your plants, don’t get a large, over-sized planter that barely fits. You must still have room to walk around the plants and care for them. On the same note, don’t make it too small. Having a large deck with one tiny plant in the corner looks silly, unless you have other plants and other things taking up space with it.
Get the Right Plants
Will your garden be outside? Don’t grow plants that can’t stay out in the winter if you live in a colder climate, unless you plan to take them indoors in the winter. Think ahead about what you want to do with your garden and plan accordingly. You don’t want your plants to die just because you didn’t research which plants work best where.
Find the Right Spot
Make sure the spot where you keep your container garden gets adequate sun exposure. Some plants can still thrive even without a lot of sun, but most need at least a few hours a day. Do some research on each plant type you want to have. Find out exactly what it needs, and make sure you can provide enough for it. Otherwise, your garden will fail.
Take Care of your Plants
You can plan your garden out perfectly, but if you don’t take care of it, it will all be for nothing. Keep the soil moist and make sure it gets lots of sunlight. Prune any plants that need it, and look after them on a regular basis. Most plants are pretty low maintenance, but they shouldn’t be forgotten.
